Recently I’ve been going to the theater A LOT.

What happened to the famous Chagalls? Are they sold? used for collateral? or just covered up by ads? How soon before those are ads for flavored water and insurance companies?
That’s just this week…

I finally found the show that I can recommend to everyone — can you guess which one? I was surprised. I had gone into this one with low expectations. Figured it would be nothing new, maybe some good dancing.

But by the end of the opening number it was clear, The Great Gatsby is destined to be the next Phantom — serious spectacle, satisfying plot, soaring music. It’s lush, the score has such a traditional “hit” musical theater sound that you could play a drinking game called “that sounds like Wicked.” The sets and videos and lighting will sweep you away — in fact we could play another drinking game called “what shows that opened on Broadway this year have opening numbers that are bigger showstoppers than their grand finales” The costumes and choreography will make you want to get up and join the party — and to top it all off the cast is both recognizably famous AND…
